Mary A. Falvey, Ph.D.
Dr. Mary Falvey is an Emerita Professor from the Division of Special Education and Counseling at California State University, Los Angeles. She has advocated for hundreds of thousands of students with disabilities to be educated alongside their non-disabled peers while receiving the supports and services to be successful, including testifying in court on their behalf. She also consults with numerous schools and school districts as well as parent advocacy groups on successfully including students with disabilities in their communities. For over 25 years, she coordinated the credential and master’s degree programs in moderate/severe disabilities, as well as the master’s degree program in Inclusive Education at Cal State LA. She was the Dean of the Charter College of Education at Cal State LA from 2001 – 2013.
Mary is the parent of an adult son with learning disabilities and the aunt of a 29-year-old man with Down syndrome and autism. She has lectured at over 300 international, national, state, and local conferences as well as taught courses at numerous universities throughout the United States and the world. She has written, edited, and contributed to journal articles and chapters in over 10 journals, 18 books, and has written 4 books.
