Meet Valerie. She is a kind and loving person. Everyone she meets is her friend and she will express that emotion each time you see her. Valerie is one of Avenues regular volunteers for the Santa Clarita Valley community volunteering program.
Valerie volunteers every day and drives about 375 miles a week in transportation. That’s a full tank of gas which these days amounts to over $80 a week in fuel costs.
Valerie’s favorite volunteer spot is at the Hope Shelter for pet adoptions because while she is there aside from cleaning the windows, taking the trash to the outside containers, dusting and cleaning the shelves and tables, she gets to hold, pet and walk the dogs which helps the dogs; especially the new ones that come in, get them acquainted with people so that the shelter can give them a better chance of finding permanent homes.
Valerie also volunteers at Hart Park where she picks up trash around the park and manicured trails around the park. This makes it a clean and pleasant experience for visitors that come to see the Animal sanctuary and take the walk up to the Wm. S Hart Mansion.
In Valerie’s free time, when she is not volunteering, she love’s everything to do with flowers and shares her passion with others. She also likes to participate in community walks provided through city programs along with occasional walk-a-thon fundraisers.
Valerie is an amazing Volunteer and we want her to continue to keep up the volunteer work she enjoys so much. You can help her by donating to her transportation costs associated with the fuel needed to get her to each destination.
Please text Fuel6 to 71777 and make a donation today. Any amount really makes a difference in our Avenues Friend’s lives. These donations are tax deductible and we provide letters as proof of your donation along with Avenues Tax ID.
